Piano Removal
Uprights and grands moved room to room, home to home, or taken away for good — by a crew who know how they balance.
The service
How our piano removal service works.
A piano is the one item in the house that punishes guesswork. The weight sits high and uneven, the castors were never made for moving day, and a wrong grip on a staircase ends in a dented case or a hurt back. Our piano removal crews carry uprights and grands for a living — moving them between homes, up to a new room, or out of the house for good.
The right kit does most of the work. We bring piano trolleys and skates, stair-crawlers for awkward flights, padding for the case and lid, and enough hands to control the weight on every turn. Grands are lowered, legs and lyre removed and wrapped, and the body moved on its side on a purpose-built board — the way it's meant to be done, not shoulder-barged through a doorway.
Not every piano is worth keeping, and that's fine. If yours is beyond tuning, riddled with woodworm or simply unwanted, we remove it for disposal instead — breaking it down and recycling the cast-iron frame, timber and strings responsibly rather than leaving it to rot in a garage. Moving or scrapping, it's the same careful crew and the same fixed written quote.

Why book us
What makes our piano removal different.
Crews who move pianos
Not general removers with a trolley — people who understand where the weight of an upright or grand actually sits.
The right equipment
Piano trolleys, skates and stair-crawlers so the instrument is controlled, not manhandled, on every step.
Grands handled properly
Legs, lyre and pedals removed and wrapped, the body moved on its side on a padded board.
Home and instrument protected
Case, lid and keys padded; floors, banisters and door frames covered before we lift.
Move it or remove it
Same crew whether you're relocating the piano or having it taken away and recycled.
Fixed written quote
Priced from photos and a few questions about access — no hourly meter running on the day.

Common questions
Piano Removal, asked and answered.
How much does piano removal cost?
We quote it in writing after you send photos and describe the access — never a number over the phone that changes when we arrive. Piano type, floors, stairs and distance all shape the price, so we price the real job, not a guess.
Can you move a grand piano?
Yes. Grands are prepared properly — pedal lyre and legs removed and wrapped, the body eased onto its side on a padded skid board, then moved as one controlled unit. Baby grands to concert grands are all within what we handle.
Can you get a piano down or up a staircase?
Usually yes. We use stair-crawling equipment and enough crew to keep the weight controlled on every tread. Very tight or curved staircases occasionally need a different route — send photos of the stairs and we'll tell you straight.
Will my piano need retuning after the move?
Almost certainly. Any piano moved any distance should be left to settle for a couple of weeks in its new spot, then tuned. That's the instrument reacting to the move and the new room, not a sign anything went wrong.
I want to get rid of an old piano. Can you just take it away?
Yes. If a piano is unplayable, woodworm-ridden or simply unwanted, we remove it for disposal and recycle the frame, timber and strings responsibly. It's often the easiest way to reclaim a room.
Do you move pianos between two different homes?
We do — collection at one address and delivery to another, in the same booking, with the instrument protected door to door. Tell us both ends when you ask for a quote so the plan and price cover the whole journey.
My piano is going into storage. Can you help?
Yes. We can move it to a storage unit and position it safely, ideally against an internal wall away from damp and radiators. Let us know it's going into storage so we wrap it accordingly for the stay.
Are you insured to move a piano?
Yes — our work carries goods-in-transit and public liability cover. For a rare or high-value instrument, mention it when you book and we'll confirm the cover suits before the date.
Local knowledge, national standard
Piano removal anywhere in the UK, without the gamble.
Searching for piano removal anywhere in the UK brings up a wall of promises, and no way to tell who'll actually turn up. Here's how we remove the gamble: every job across the UK is surveyed before it's priced, priced in writing before it's booked, and handled by one crew from first box to last.
Because we run UK piano removal regularly, our crews arrive already knowing the practical stuff — where a van can legally wait, which buildings need lift bookings, how long the carry really takes. That knowledge is what keeps a fixed quote fixed.
Message us on WhatsApp with what's moving and we'll answer with a real plan and a real number — usually the same day.

We pack and protect
On the day (or the day before, for bigger homes) we wrap furniture, protect floors and doorways, and load in a planned order.
Unload, place, done
At the other end every box goes to its labelled room, furniture is placed where you want it, and we don't leave until you've checked everything off.
Packing & protection standards
What "careful" means when we say it.
- Furniture wrapped, always. Transit blankets and stretch-wrap on every sofa, table and wardrobe — before it leaves the room.
- Mattresses and bedding bagged. Sealed protective covers keep beds clean from door to door.
- Fragiles double-boxed. Glassware, ceramics and artwork packed in double-walled boxes with paper wrap — never loose.
- Floors and frames protected. Runners on carpets, padding on door frames and banisters at both properties.
- Loaded like it matters. Heavy at the base, strapped in tiers, nothing resting on anything it shouldn't. Loading is a skill and we treat it as one.

No two moves alike
What we move across the UK.
Full homes and offices, of course — but also the jobs between: a piano down a narrow stair, a wardrobe that defeated the last crew, boxes to a storage unit, a sofa bought across town. If it needs moving across the UK, it's our kind of work.
Whole properties
Houses, flats and offices — surveyed, crewed and moved on a fixed written quote.
Heavy singles
Pianos, safes, American fridges and garden machinery, moved with the right kit.
Small loads
Part-loads, student rooms and marketplace pickups — priced for what they are.
The people doing the lifting
Crews you'd let into your home. Because you are.
A removal is personal — strangers carrying your life down the stairs. Our movers are trained, insured and turn up in uniform with the van equipped: blankets, straps, trolleys, floor runners. The crew lead walks the job with you before anything moves and checks it off with you after the last box lands.
And because the same crew stays with your move end to end, the person who wrapped your glassware is the person unwrapping it.

Access & parking
Parking and access across the UK, handled in advance.
Every quote includes a parking and access plan: where the vehicle stops, how far the carry is, whether a smaller shuttle van makes sense for a tight lane or a private road. We ask about it at survey because it's the single most common thing other quotes ignore — and the most common source of "extras" on someone else's invoice.
Narrow terrace, rural track or high-street flat above a shop across the UK — the plan is made before the day, not improvised on it.
Short notice?
Same-day and next-day crews.
We hold capacity for urgent work. If your dates just collapsed — a completion pulled forward, a tenancy deadline, keys that have to go back — message us now and you'll get an honest answer in minutes: an arrival window and a fixed price, or the earliest real alternative.
